Hospitality, food, and experience support for thoughtfully planned time away.

FieldCrafted provides private chef services and hospitality support for individuals and small groups seeking a higher level of preparation, care, and ease—most often in outdoor-oriented settings, and occasionally in homes, lodges, or short-term rentals where food and gathering are central to the experience.

Good food has a way of anchoring memory, especially when it’s shared in places where time slows and attention shifts outward. The work is quiet and intentional: handling details well, removing friction, and allowing people to be fully present in the time they’ve set aside.

What We Do

FieldCrafted supports a wide range of experiences, from immersive multi-day trips to simple, well-timed private chef engagements.

Services may include:

• Private chef services for camps, lodges, homes, or short-term rentals

• Meal preparation for weekend or multi-day stays

• Menu planning, sourcing, and provisioning

• Hospitality and food support for hunting, fishing, skiing, and other outdoor-oriented activities

• On-site cooking and guest care when appropriate

• Coordination alongside independently selected guides, venues, or properties

Some engagements span several days and involve extensive preparation. Others are intentionally straightforward—a well-prepared meal during a stay, or food handled quietly so the rest of the experience can unfold naturally.

Each project is shaped around the client, the setting, and the pace of the experience.

Why FieldCrafted

FieldCrafted is informed by experience accumulated over time, shaped by long familiarity with outdoor environments as well as decades spent in professional food and hospitality settings. That perspective developed gradually—through early and continuous exposure to hunting, fishing, and time outdoors, and later through formal work in fine dining kitchens, destination hotels, ski resorts, and private residences.

That foundation extends into outdoor lodging and field-based hospitality, where logistics, timing, and guest care are inseparable from the setting itself. Experience includes years spent within fishing and hunting lodge programs, multi-day off-site hunt camps, and extended float trips operated in coordination with licensed and permitted outfitters—settings where food systems, fuel, weather, transport, and preparation must all function reliably over many consecutive days.

This perspective is further informed by time spent working as a fly-fishing guide and upland bird-hunting guide within lodge operations. That experience created a practical understanding of what supports guides well, how small details affect the overall flow of a trip, and how thoughtful preparation behind the scenes allows the primary experience to unfold smoothly for both guests and those leading them.

It is uncommon for these disciplines to overlap within a single practice. FieldCrafted exists in that overlap—where fine dining standards, outdoor operations, and practical hospitality meet.

Experience & Capabilities

In addition to broad hospitality experience, FieldCrafted brings extensive hands-on work with whole proteins developed across fine dining kitchens, lodge settings, and remote environments. This includes professional butchery, wild game handling, and fish preparation carried out with attention to yield, care, and suitability for cooking or storage.

When appropriate, this experience allows FieldCrafted to assist clients with the careful breakdown and preparation of their legally harvested game or fish as part of a broader food and hospitality role. All such work remains focused on culinary preparation and guest support and does not include guiding, instruction in harvest, or commercial processing.

Demonstration & Shared Knowledge

While FieldCrafted is not structured as a guiding or instructional service, many engagements naturally involve moments of demonstration or shared knowledge when appropriate.

This may include demonstrating camp, field, or outdoor cooking techniques; walking through meal preparation or recipe methods; sharing approaches to provisioning and food logistics; or cooking alongside guests in outdoor, lodge, or home settings.

These moments are informal and situational—offered as part of hospitality and presence, not as formal instruction, certification, or guided activity.

What We Do Not Do

FieldCrafted does not provide guiding, outfitting, instruction, or transportation services.

Clients independently select and contract any guides, outfitters, or permitted providers as needed. When appropriate, FieldCrafted may work alongside those providers in a hospitality-focused support role limited to food, preparation, and guest care.

Location & Scope

FieldCrafted is based in Utah and works throughout the Intermountain West, including Montana, as well as locally within Salt Lake City and surrounding areas.

Work may take place in outdoor settings, private homes, short-term rentals, ski and mountain resort environments, or in coordination with properly permitted providers operating on public lands.
